Call for Interns

With over 20,000 subscribers, Journal of Marital and Family Therapy (JMFT) is the best known and most influential family therapy journal in the world. Maintaining JMFT as a scholarly journal of the highest quality depends on reviewers with a high level of expertise and an ability to be objective, balanced, and insightful in their evaluation of the work of others. To this end, I am always interested in identifying graduate students with these qualities and who are willing to volunteer as interns making the commitment to assist the journal’s associate editors and me as we review articles for JMFT.

If you would like to be considered as a JMFT intern, please complete the online Intern Information Sheet and send the completed information sheet, along with your current curriculum vitae, as attached files to jmft@nsu.nova.edu. Upon receipt, the associate editors and I will review your credentials and let you know our decision as soon as it is rendered.

If you are selected to join our editorial community, you will be expected to assist with the reviewing 1 to 2 new manuscripts a year, in addition to resubmissions. You will be asked via e-mail by an associate editor or me whether or not you are willing to assist with the review of a specific manuscript. In the email we will outline the tasks we will need for you to accomplish and a timeline. If you accept, you will work with us throughout the reviewing process so you can learn the steps involved in reading manuscripts and reviews, rendering editorial decisions, revising manuscripts, and communicating with authors. We think this will be an excellent experience for graduate students and aspiring academics who wish to learn more about scholarly journals and manuscript development.

If you have any questions regarding this opportunity, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you!
